The ABS Board of Directors invites you to join us in Buffalo, NY for the 2010 Annual Convention & Trade Show. We're pleased to introduce some changes and enhancements to scheduling, seminar content and many other facets for our 2010 event. We hope you like what we've done! It has been almost 15 years since ABS held a convention in the Northeast, so we're ready for a great turnout! Your participation is essential to the success of the Convention - register today!

The Hyatt Regency Buffalo is right across from the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. Seminars, the Trade Show, Falcon DayBreakers! and the Welcome Banquet will all be at the convention center. The Saturday night Awards Banquet will be in the Hyatt ballroom.

Prior Aviation Services at Buffalo/Niagara International Airport (BUF) will welcome our aircraft. This will be the location for Afternoon at the Airport and the Beechcraft Hangar Party on Thursday.

Ground Transportation

Shuttles will make scheduled runs between Prior Aviation, the Buffalo/Niagara International Airport and the Hyatt Regency Buffalo. You'll receive a schedule in your confirmation package which will arrive in August.

Welcome Banquet and Trade Show Grand Opening

Enjoy a delicious buffet, a brief welcome, and then it's on to the Trade Show for dessert and a first look at the new products and services from the best Beechcraft-specific vendors in the country! We'll have additional activities in the hall to make this a great start to the rest of the convention.

Educational Tracks

The seminar series "theme" is the ABS Air Safety Foundation motto: "Keeping You Flying - Safely." Among the roster of speakers: Rod Machado; Dr. David Strahle, the father of NEXRAD and weather uplinks; JJ Greenway, Chief Instructor, AOPA Air Safety Foundation; "Old Bob" Siegfried, Dr. Robert Spitzer and plenty more. For the first time ever, the ABS-Air Safety Foundation's initial and recurrent training program, BPPP (Beechcraft Pilot Proficiency Program), is offering seven hours of training as part of the convention seminar schedule at no charge to attendees. Any ABS member who has never been to a BPPP and attends all seven sessions is eligible to complete BPPP flight training for $700 at any scheduled BPPP event through November 2011. This is a great value and opportunity to ensure your safety in your Beechcraft.

First Timers

If you have never been to an ABS Convention, look for a special invitation in your registration packet to a reception before the Wednesday night Welcome Banquet. This is your opportunity to hear tips from experienced attendees for making the most of your time at the convention. The ABS Board and other ABS members will be on hand to greet you and share their convention experiences.

Start each morning with Falcon DayBreakers! Enjoy a continental breakfast and general session thanks to the continued support of the Falcon Insurance Agency.

Thursday - experience the dramatic beauty of Paul Bowen's aviation photography. Paul is the recipient of Aviation Photography's Lifetime Achievement Award. Find his booth in the exhibit hall!

Lauren Belfer

We're happy to announce that Lauren Belfer, author of this year's Companion Book Club selection, City of Light, will speak at the Ladies Luncheon on Friday about her research and motivation in writing this novel about the Buffalo/Niagara history. She'll also introduce her newest book, A Fierce Radiance. The Ladies Luncheon is included in the Full Registration package.

In addition to speaking at the luncheon, Ms. Belfer has agreed to lead the Companion Book Club discussion Saturday - a real treat for all the nonpilots and companions! Even if you haven't read the book, feel free to attend - you'll want to read both books when you get home!

Friday Evening

Friday evening is "on your own" or you may like to join fellow attendees who want to see the power of the Falls up close in a "Visit to Niagara Falls". Transportation to Niagara Falls State Park will begin at 3 pm from the Hyatt. Tickets for optional attractions, (Cave of the Wind Tour, Maid of the Mist Boat Tour, etc.) will be available at the park. Buses will shuttle attendees from the park to the Water Street Landing, located on the Niagara River, for dinner and will return to the Hyatt afterward. (This is an optional event so you must register for it. Attendance is limited to 300.)

Rod Machado

At the Awards Banquet, Rod Machado returns to the ABS Convention with his popular and unique approach to aviation education. In addition to serving as keynote speaker at the Awards Banquet, Rod will present a seminar earlier Saturday afternoon, "The Little Things". After Rod's keynote address and some official business, enjoy the final evening of the convention with friends — old and new.
