ABS Obtains Circuit Breaker Compliance ExtensionJune 11, 2009ABS prevents what would have been a mass-grounding of 1970 and later Bonanzas and Barons on August 6, 2009.
ABS has received an extension to the compliance deadline for Airworthiness Directive 2008-13-17, the Beech circuit breaker replacement AD. Aircraft owners must meet certain obligations to take advantage of the deadline extension, outlined below. The AD mandates replacement of certain switch-type circuit breakers no later than August 6, 2009. The supply chain has not been able to keep up with demand for breakers ordered as far back as October 2008, however, and ABS was able to obtain a compliance deadline extension as a result.
This approval comes in the form of an Alternate Means of Compliance (AMOC) that addresses the FAA’s concerns about expeditious circuit breaker replacement. In order to operate under the extension AMOC the airplane’s owner must:
Maintain all the appropriate documentation to show your mechanic or inspector if the airplane goes in for an annual or 100-hour inspection, or any work that requires a return-to-service related to the associated systems, until after you have replaced your breakers. Detailed information, including links to the AMOC, the AD, the applicable Beech service bulletins, and other related documents is at the top of the Members Only page at www.bonanza.org. Contact ABS if you have any questions after reading the AD and AMOC letter. Remember, you’ll receive a discount on parts ordered from RAPID if you pay using your ABS credit card. See www.bonanza.org or call 316-945-1700 for information on how to apply. |
