Upgrades and Changes to the POH & Checklists

I have upgraded my G33 from an IO-470 to an IO-550. In addition I am upgrading the panel to G500/GTN750/GFC500.

If anyone else out there has done something similar, I am wondering if you made changes to your pre-flight check lists or POH performance information. I'm sure the 550 will perform as good, probably better than the G33 listed performance in the POH. Would it be wise to pull sections out of a POH for a model that came standard with a 550??

Any insight from someone who's done or knows about this would be appreciated.
Thanks

Unless the STC holder for the IO550 provided an updated performance section for your POH, you are to use the original numbers from your POH but expect better than published numbers.

The FAA's practical test standards clearly state pilots must use appropriate written checklists. Pilots who operate under FAR Part 91 can create their own checklists, providing that they contain each element that is published in the POH checklist. Modification of your checklist should be something to consider especially with all the “new” equipment you mentioned. Additional equipment, which did not come with the production airplane and are not included in the original POH checklist should be included with your revised checklist. Start with the basic checklists in the POH and then modify them to incorporate your special equipment operations, preflight actions and "flows". An example is the addition of something like a standby alternator or an autopilot preflight check. Add it to your checklist taking into account where that item comes in your setup or preflight “flow.”

The STC holder for the IO550 should have provided an updated performance section for your POH along with the other paperwork and Airplane Flight Manual Supplement

In most cases the STC holder does not provide a POH supplement, they only provide a Flight manual supplement that must be carried in the aircraft. Any additional equipment added such as engine monitors and other changes in the TDC should have a Flight manual supplement and be carried onboard.
