ME Insurance

Planning for a future Baron purchase and have some general insurance questions hopefully, someone can provide some light one. My buddy is a MEI but has generally speaking low hours - 650TT, 275RG and 160ME. Would you tend to believe he would get approved as my MEI on the insurance policy? As a new ME owner, I will need someone listed to help get the required initial hours. Thanks

I would suggest calling Falcon Insurance to discuss adding him as a “named” pilot. They will have requirements and minimum hours based on the selected insurance company. I work through their Scottsdale office ‭(800) 880-3597‬ but they also have an office in Texas.

For my transition training in a 58Tc, insurance requirement for the MEI was 1500 hours TT, 500 make/model.

Patrick,
I am currently training in my recently purchased 55 Baron. I will say that locating an MEI that meets insurance requirements, and that has any availability has been very challenging. The same with finding a DPE who can do ME check rides and that has availability less than a month out. I suggest pitching your instructor to your insurance and start looking for a DPE as far in advance as possible.
