Strobe Fence / Wing Fence

Any ideas if the 'Strobe Fence' in these pictures should be fitted on an N35 without Wingtip Strobes?

Seems a little odd to me, found a few pictures of this aircraft on the internet in the 70's and they weren't fitted then. Am I missing something here? I presume there is no other reason for fitting them.

I know a guy that put them on his early Deb; swore it improved his aileron control / roll rate. I asked him if he also put the newer tips on it. He admitted he did...

I suspect this N owner had about 3 oz. too much useful load.

Those do not appear to be Beech manufactured. The quality of them is very poor. This is what they should look like.

I took it that Neil was asking about the purpose of them, not necessarily the genesis of them, Tracy. But this wouldn't be the first time I misinterpreted a question. Incidentally, they are not original on the pic you posted either; they came about with the wrap-around lens.

Thanks for the input I think I will probably ditch them as the Quality is not the best and as it does not have the wrap around lens or Strobe lights fitted they are pointless.

I was just worried I was missing some little extra requirement for them somewhere but think they have been put on for looks.

Many thanks,

Neil
