Propeller options for C55

I pulled my old McCauley two blade props for reseal during annual and they came back unsalvageable. So I'm looking for a new set of propellers. IO-520s, alcohol anti-ice. I have a slight preference for two-blades.

What's the recommendation of the tech experts?

And a few specific questions:

* Assuming I can find a pair of overhauled McCauleys, is that throwing good money after bad?
* Is anyone offering new two-blade options for the C55?
* Any adverse impact on the engines from switching to a three-blade, if that proves necessary?

Matt... have you checked out the Type Certificate Data Sheet for the C55 Baron. It appears to offer a number of propeller options for the Model C55... both 2-bladed and 3-bladed. The FAA website to access TCDS is: www.faa.gov/regulatory_and_guidance_library

I believe Hartzell also has an STC for the installation of an alternate 2-bladed propeller if that is the route you wish to go. The STC number is SA773CE.

Matt... there should not be any negative effects on the engines in switching from a 2-bladed to a 3-bladed propeller. You might experience a little bit more vibration in the cabin due to the additional blade passage against the fuselage.

We had the same situation come up on our C55. Switched to 2 bladed Hartzell BHC-C2YF-2CHUF, with Blade FC8475B-6.

Anecdotally, my friend with a E55 and 3 bladed props prefers my 2 bladed C55. Says it is much quieter and less vibration. I believe cruise speed with 2 blades is also marginally faster.
