Tail Beacon Upgrade

I was thinking of upgrading the tail beacon during annual to the more modern streamlined version. I figured I would ask in this forum as Textron sells these as factory parts.
The part numbers are:
84003-4 (universal ground recognition light)
86035-02 (Ground beacon light Kit)
221608-07 (Fairing)
STC SA02387AK

I have heard that this upgrade does not meet lighting requirements without upgrading every single light on the aircraft. Is that true or is there a work around. I would love to replace all the lights with LEDs however I have read that the osborne tanks are a bit of a pain to upgrade.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

The first issue is that the STC SA02387AK does not list the G36 on the approved model list (AML).
Without being listed the STC cannot be used on the G36 without getting a field approval or getting Aero LED to add the G36 to the AML.
86035-02 Ground beacon light Kit is listed at Textron for $2305.00 and they have 2ea in stock
The universal ground recognition light is listed at Textron for $1259.00 but they have none in stock
The Fairing P/N 221608-07 is listed at Textron for $481.07 but they have none in stock

While STC SA02387AK does in fact list the G36 on the AML, which I can say with absolute certainty because I'm looking at an amendment dated Nov 19, 2012, you don't need it anyway.

Beech no longer installs this STC on the G36 and G58 aircraft. The ground recognition light that you want was in-drawn as a Class II change because we have no regulatory requirement to meet with this light, and therefore did not need to adopt LSI's data. Like you were mentioning, this light is not an anti-collision light. It does not have an associated TSO. To meet the ACL requirement you must have operable strobe lights.

As part of that in-draw process, this particular light is now part of the type design of the aircraft. TxtAv now orders the distinct parts from LSI such as the 84003-4 light and the 221608-7 fairing, but we no longer deal in those kit P/N's. The fact that TAPD indicated two of the kits in stock is fortunate. The 86035-02 kit includes the light, fairing, connector, bonding strap, etc. It's the only thing you would need to order.

I know Bob is probably hoping for at least some parts catalog drawings to substantiate that it is now type design. Unfortunately, Tech Pubs is now at least a year behind the changes that engineering has made to the airplane. You're just going to have to discuss it with your mechanic and let them make the major/minor determination and see if needs to be a logbook entry or a 337. For what it's worth, the OEM considered this a minor.

Another alternative that could be a minor alteration would be to consider a Knots-2-U fiberglass fairing and the Aveo TSO'd anti collision light:

Thanks Matt, I missed it up in the middle of the listing.

Agree with Matt. We have been installing a pretty good number of the combination K2U fairing with the AVEO RBG.
