Yoke Thumb plate Replacement

I am replacing my yoke upper thumb plates with Cygnet and have some technical questions for the ABS technical specialists:

- Is there a way to remove the TRIM SWITCH CA3112-G without un-soldering the 6ea wires? The assembly won't pass through the square opening. NOTE: I noticed some small set screws at the base of the unit...but it doesn't look like something I should remove?

- For the MAP, OAT, COMPASS switch...where is the bulb for the OAT gauge?

Thanks...Jim

Jim - I have a new CA3112-G switch for a pending autopilot install so I examined it and see the set screws but before trying to take it apart I suggest you call Cygnet to see if there is anything tricky about the process. It is just a pair of standard micro-switches paired together with a few other proprietary parts to make up the assembly so I assume it can be disassembled/reassembled but I'd check with them first.

But de-soldering and re-soldering the wires wouldn't be very difficult either.

The original OAT on your plane was illuminated by a standard post light. See photo.

Shep…thanks! I don’t have that original OAT gauge…which has a bulb on top of it…so I guess that light is obsolete? I will call Cygnet tomorrow.

Thanks!
