How to Become an ABS Recognized Flight Instructor

The ABS Recognized Flight Instructor program identifies flight instructors who meet high standards for experience teaching in Beech Bonanzas, Debonairs, Barons and/or Travel Airs, and who have completed type-specific training provided by the ABS Air Safety Foundation that increases their knowledge and provides techniques for effectively and safely teaching in ABS-type airplanes.

ABS Recognized Flight Instructors will populate the FIND AN INSTRUCTOR function of the ABS website, and links to each Recognized Instructor’s contact information and ABS member profile page will appear when Beech owners search for a flight instructor. ARFI Renewal Instructions

ARFI Renewal Process

ABS Recognized Flight Instructor recognition is renewed every two years. To maintain your ARFI status, you must complete the following:

1. ARFI Renewal Experience Form
   Document your flight instruction in ABS-type aircraft during the past 24 months. You must have provided at least 15 hours of dual instruction in ABS-type aircraft during that period. Download the ARFI Experience Renewal form.
2. Complete the ARFI Renewal Course
   The short ARFI Renewal Course must be completed in the ABS Online Learning Center. Eligible instructors are manually enrolled in the course 6 months prior to renewal deadline.

Once both requirements are complete, ABS will review your renewal and email your updated certificate.
